Junior A Football - Mon 14 June

Starlights 3-8  Duffry Rovers  1-4

Our Junior A footballers had a good win last night against Duffry Rovers in Coolree. The Starlights kicked well throughout to win 3-8 to 1-4 with the half time score of 2-3 to 4 points.

We had some very fine preformances from Daithi O`Brien/Davy (Speedy) Morrissey/Ciaran Began/ Niall Sunderland was once again sound at full back, Liam Boland played well at centre back going forward in the second half to score a point.

Mark Quigley made a lot of play and scored 2 fine points, the evergreen Padge (Skinner) Walsh put in his usual solid preformance in the middle of the field.

Our goals came from three of the youngest players on the field Davy (Speedy) Morrissey, Graham (Bangers) O`Connor and Rory (Git) O`Connor, points came from Eamonn Sheridan, Sean (Beefy) Farnan and Ciaran Began who worked hard all through the game.

It was great to see James (Jammy) Doyle backing a comeback to football - we hope its not a once off - see you at the next one Jammy.

Junior Football Championship - Sat 8 May  V Our Lady's Island.

Starlights  1-3 Our Lady's Island 4-10

On Sunday afternoon the Junior footballers lined out and went down badly to Our Lady’s Island at Piercestown.  Only 18 players showed up for us and the club executive and the junior management would like to take this opportunity to thank those that did and wonder where all the rest of our players were. A very young side (apart that is from Padge (Skinner) Walsh) were beaten - 1-3 to 4-10.

Allowing for the fact that it was Our Lady’s Island’s first team it is still a very dismal result for the Starlights - and with our Senior Footballers losing to the Sarsfields last week it does not augur well for us in this year’s Championship.

Junior Football - Sat 10 April V Gusserane

Victory for the Ross District men.  No report - if you have one please send it in.

Junior Football - St Patrick's Day

St Anne's 3-10  Stars 1-8

Our fortunes were not quite as good at Junior A however with a loss to St. Annes - 1-8 to 3-10. The Annes had the wind in the first half which was quite a gaol and got off to a marvellous start scoring 3-5 to 3pts in the first half - the Starlights kicked better with the wind in the second half but were never able to make up the deficit as many of our players had already played with the Seniors and ran out of steam - Jason Russell had a good day scoring 1-4 with 2 pts from Graham O`Connor and a point each from Liam Boland and Ciaran Began.

The Club would like to thank all who turned up for the games and especially those who played both - Jason Russell/Maurice Donohoe/Ollie O`Connor/Damian Mahon/Liam Boland and Niall Sunderland.
