This year's Feile was hosted by Offaly but we were hosted by the Abbey/Duniry club from the parish between Loughrea & Portumna in Galway based around the village of Tynagh, famous for its mine.

We knew going into this competition that we were up against it in a very big Blackrock side from Cork who were also full of hurling.

Result of matches:

1st Round: Abbey/Duniry 0-6 Rapparees 4-5;  Loughrea 0-1 Blackrock 2-5.

2nd Round: Rapparees 3-5 Loughrea 0-2.  Blackrock 0-10 Abbey/Duniry 1-3

3rd Round: Rapparees 2-4 Blackrock 2-5; Abbey/Duniry 0-6 Loughrea 0-9:

It was very disappointing for the lads but they put everything into it and were fiercely unlucky to lose.  There was a feeling among our supporters that the Cork team were allowed to get away with some heavy treatment of our lads but our team was told before they went that they could be happy with themselves if they left nothing behind - which they didn't.  Well done lads.

Blackrock went on to lose to eventual champions Dicksboro of Kilkenny in the quarter final.
