Starlights 2-4, St. Martin's 0-4: Starlights completed the county Féile double for the second year running when they saw off St. Martin's by six points in the football final in Oylegate on Bank Holiday Monday.
With the hurling title already safely secured by Rapparees, the Enniscorthy boys can now look forward to taking part in two All-Ireland events during the summer.
First up is the hurling from June 19 to 21 which is being hosted by Laois and Offaly, although the Tynagh club from just inside the Galway border will ebe their hosts.
A fortnight later it will be the turn of the footballers to travel to their hosts, Ardclough in Kildare, the club of Johnny and Ned Walsh of Hollow Rangers fame.
Mentors John Walsh, Paudge Walsh, Michael Foley and Tommy Foley are looking forward to both events and are also in the midst of an all-out assault on both county titles.
Both goals in the final came in the opening half, with Kevin Foley and Ryan Mahon getting the green flags which made all the difference.
It was 2-1 to 0-2 at the break, and Starlights always maintained that edge, although St. Martin's didn't help their cause with some wayward shooting.
The winners had beaten Oylegate-Glenbrien by 3-5 to 1-3 in the quarter-final thanks to scores from Kevin Foley (2-2), Colin Nolan (1-0), Darragh Pepper (0-2) and Liam Ryan (0-1).
Fethard were beaten by 1-6 to 0-3 in the semi-final thanks to the accuracy of Leonard Connolly (1-2), Paddy Hore (0-2), Dylan Furlong and Kevin Foley (0-1 each).
St. Martin's beat Volunteers by a goal and Glynn-Barntown by four points before goals from Jamie Carty, Joe Coleman and Seán Stafford powered them to a 3-12 to 1-1 semi-final over Naomh Éanna. Their mentors were Benny Ennis, Peter Culleton, Chris Ryan, Tom Higgins and Kevin Carty.
