It was the worst of days for our Minor Footballers in their quest for glory losing their County Semi Final to the Shelmaliers in Hollymount.

After a dismal first half performance going in at the break 2 points to 1-8 the writing seemed to be very much on the wall for the Starlights but true to form they emerged a different team for the second period scoring 2.7 to the Shelmaliers 6 points.

A spirited and never say die approach to the second 30 minutes almost clinched their spot in the Co.Final and only 2 points separated the sides at the final whistle 2.9 to 1.14 with the Starlights missing a goal chance in the closing minutes.

If we had seen this attitude from the start the Stars would be now on their way to a Counyt Minor Final but it took them too long to realise that they were in this game and by the time they did the chance had slipped away from them.

Nevertheless it is heartening to see the way they came back and fought tooth and nail for every ball and never gave up. Well done to all concerned.
