The old adage ` fortune favours the brave ` held true for the Starlights last weekend in Oylegate when they gave a committed and trojan performance in the second period to counteract the sending off of Cathal Murphy and to clinch the victory over Glynn/Barntown and secure their place in the B Championship closing stages and avoid relegation.

Well done to all concerned especially Tom Wall who gave a magnificient display at fullback and indeed Eamonn Furlong at full forward getting a vital goal and proving to all that anything he can do in hurling he can do in football too!

It was an overall team effort when the chips were down and everyone gave of their very best and might I take this opportunity to say thank you lads and indeed mentors Sheamy Byrne/Nicky Kehoe/Johnny Mythen – the only place for a proud club like the Starlights is in Senior football and thank you for keeping it so.
