The Rapps seniors made a winning start to the championship despite missing many scoring opportunities yesterday in Wexford Park.

We always seemed comfortable in terms of handling the Marshalstown scoring threat throughout but never managed to put enough daylight between ourselves and them.

It was only in the last ten minutes that a string of scores from Eamon Furlong allowed us to break free notwithstanding a goal scare at the far end that had the referee consulting his umpires as to whether the ball had crossed the line or not!
