Minor Hurling v Shelmaliers

Our Minor were hurlers beaten by the Shelmaliers on Friday evening in Hollymount in a county semi final.

With the halftime score at 1-6 each it looked like anyones game but with 6 missed chances at the beginning of the second period the Rapps felt it wasn’t to be their day and the creeping doubt was enough to allow Shelmaliers the upperhand - who to their credit hammered home the victory.

Our best performers were Mel Doyle/Kevin Ryan/Kevin Foley/Alan Tobin/Jack Kelly/Willie Dunne and others.

Our Minor hurlers dished up a classy display on Sunday morning in Patricks Park against the Shelmaliers. In a wonderful exhibition of skill they completely outshone the opposition but it has to be said that the Shels were missing some of their panel and the scoreline of 8.16 to 1.7 is testament to that.

We went down to the Harriers last night in the first round of the minor hurling championship. The best team won but some of our lads put in good performances.

Our Minor hurlers had a good win on Sunday morning against St. Annes in Rathangan – 3.12 to 1.9. A lot of work is being done with this squad and the proof is in the pudding with an excellent display against a strong St. Annes side and some skilful scores taken. Well done to all concerned over the weekend – good wins – good effort and good commitment.
