U21 Football v Ballinstragh Gaels PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 23 November 2011 11:06

Having lost our Senior Football status in recent weeks we were hoping for a good performance at U/21 last Saturday in Killanerin against Ballinastragh Gaels but after a poor first half scoring only 4 points to 9 from the opposition it was an uphill battle and even though we did gather ourselves on the resumption and put in a better effort for the second period we had left ourselves with too much to do.

The final score of 1.11 to 9pts was not quiet a true reflection of the difference between the sides with the goal coming late in the game.

Rapparees 1-09        Shelmaliers 3-08

Disappointment in a wet and windy Monamolin on Saturday, our juniors going down to the Shelmaliers in another tough encounter.  It started very brightly with a goal and a point from Timmy Dwyer with two and a half minutes gone and Anthony Russell in shooting form.

 Rapparees 3-13  Faythe Harriers 3-11

What a period of fulfilment we have been experiencing at underage lately at Bellefield. The fruits of our labours have indeed ended in success. Basking in our Juvenile Football Final victory over the Shelmaliers in what has been heralded as two of the best games of football seen in the County at any level in recent times we were hoping against hope that our Minor hurlers would be able to do us proud on County Final day in Wexford Park.

Not having tasted success at this level for over 20 years we hardly dared to believe that our dream could finally become a reality. Confident that we had players with sufficient talent and skill and positive that Adrian Fenlon and his backroom team had left no stone unturned in their preparation we tentatively felt that we were in with a good chance to take the coveted title but we knew it would all come down to what would happen on the day and we were certain that the Faythe Harriers were worthy opponents with the skill and the talent to match us. We would have a battle on our hands – would we have the stamina for it? Would our young Juveniles hold their nerve and would our big men have the steel for the fray.

Junior B Hurling semi final v Cushoinstown PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 03 October 2011 10:00

Our Junior B`s weren't just able to go all the way, beaten in the county semi final on Saturday in Bree by Cushinstown by the very narrowest of margins 11pts to 12.

A tough way to exit the championship lads and a hard lesson to learn – we started too slow and too easy – you have to hurl for the full hour for success but in fairness we came back well in the second half and fought to the bitter end to try to eek out the victory.
