Those who attended the Juvenile Football County Final under lights in Patricks Parks on Tuesday 21st Sept where treated to a most powerful, skilful and entertaining game of football that on a cold Autumn evening would warm the cockles of your heart and send you home with a wonderful afterglow lasting long into the dark night.
 
It had it all – the thrills and the spills with both sides winning and losing it several times over the 60 minutes and indeed in the extra time. Spectators could not have wished for any better entertainment and excitement for their €5 with a final scoreline of 4.12 to 3.15 ………………. And yes it was football!
 

This epic classic came down to the wire at the final whistle despite the fact that the Starlights had a lead of 5 points midway through the second half and came down to the wire again at the end of extra time despite the fact that the Shelmaliers had notched up a 4 point lead midway through – indicative of the trojan effort and sheer determination on both sides.
 
No one deserved to lose this unforgettable encounter. Both sides battling it out to the bitter end with no quarter given or taken and yet at the final, final whistle in the true spirit of the gaa these young Gladiators actually hugged each other before leaving the scene of Battle.
 

Well done Starlights you did us proud and we look forward with anticipation to the rematch.
