Jim Byrne Cup Semi Final Jan 29 PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 30 January 2012 11:17

Our Jim Byrne Cup team had a wonderful win at Bellefield on Sunday over Half Way House Bunclody in the semi final of the competition beating them comprehensively 1.14 to 3pts.

This gives us  a spot in the final in 2 weeks time against The Shelmaliers who beat Ballinastragh Gaels in the other semi.

Well done to all concerned team and Mentors – Jim Byrne Cup is not a competition for the faint hearted and it takes a lot of effort to get teams out at this time of the year with soccer and rugby at full throttle so my sincere compliments to those who take it on and not alone get the job done but secure our place in the final.

This novel idea has captured the imagination and over 100 people came out to show their support and to join in the fun of the pudding run. The large crowd gathered at Bellefield GAA Complex and set off for their 10k trek when chief organiser Phil Kearney gave the signal.
