Four members of the Bellefield GAA Social Initiative Mens Group were treated to a day in the sun recently, that will live in their memories forever, as they came together with clubs from all over the country at Aras an Uachtaran as guests of President Mary McAleese and her husband Martin.

 

A superb, special occasion with guest speakers of the calibre of GAA President Christy Cooney and Broadcaster extraordinaire and octogenarian Miceal O Muircheartaigh coupled with musical entertainment from the evergreen Paddy Cole.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our group of Winnie Connolly (Co - Organiser), Pat Leacy, Jim Sinnott and Michael O`Brien were especially honoured and impressed when Miceal O`Muircheartaigh was able to recall Pat Leacy`s playing days with Wexford and actually recounted the exact details of one game to him. What a truly modest, marvellous man and what a wonderful ambassador for older men and proof that life can be full, interesting, active and productive in the twilight years, which is what this Initiative is all about.
