Bellefield is staging the finals of the Michael Foley Memorial U/15 Leinster Hurling Competition on our newly reopened pitch at 3.30 and 4.30 on the same day. Teams from all over Leinster are converging on the Enniscorthy District where the preliminaries will be played from 11am in both Ferns and Marshalstown with the Shield and Cup Finals at Bellefield.

Michael Foley was one of our best players not only playing for the Club at all levels and in both codes but also donning the purple and gold at U/21 and Senior for the County and it is only fitting that this very special competition in memory of this very special man gets pride of place at Bellefield and this year it is made extra special by the fact that Michaels son Kevin Foley one of the clubs up and coming stars will captain the Wexford A team. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Kevin and Aaron Sinnott on the A team and Liam Ryan and Fionn Carty on the B team and all the Wexfords lads the very best of luck. Could I also take this opportunity to pay tribute to the Michael Foley Bursary Fund Committee who lobbied both County Board and Croke Park for permission to set up a prestigious competition in Michaels name. Michael was an all round sportsman playing gaelic football and rugby but it was the game of hurling that captured his heart and his imagination – it was his favourite game and this U/15 Leinster Hurling Competition is a most appropriate tribute to him and we at Bellefield are happy and proud to host the finals and we have no doubt that on Saturday next we will see the stars of our future grace our newly developed pitch.
