There was a tremendous turnout on St. Stephens morning for the 4th annual Michael Foley Bursary Fund Pudding Run. This novel idea has captured the imagination and over 100 people came out to show their support and to join in the fun of the pudding run. The large crowd gathered at Bellefield GAA Complex and set off for their 10k trek when chief organiser Phil Kearney gave the signal. Declan Ivers defended his title well being the first runner home with Seanie O`Gorman close on his heels as the first teenager back and Elaine McCabe the first lady and Dillon McVeigh the first child.

Padraig Doyle true to form was the first over 50 home once again and just to prove that fitness runs in the family his mother Mrs. Maeve Doyle was the first grannie back to bellefield where tea/coffee and other delicacies were provided by Majella Murphy and Bridget Collins as the many prizes were given out and people met and mingled on what has become a wonderful festive social occasion.

Lovely to see Ken Kavanagh home for the event as he received the prize for the person who had travelled the longest distance to be there. And well done to the Wicklow Doyles who all travelled to participate.

The brainchild of the late Michaels dedicated and loyal friends this event seems to go from strength to strength not alone giving people the chance to get fresh air and exercise after the inactivity of Christmas Day but also allowing them to meet with friends and colleagues that they might only have the chance to see once a year.

This lovely poignant occasion keeps Michaels memory alive and keeps his family and friends in touch with each other and gives them a reason to come together to renew old acquaintances and reminisce over the Yuletide period.
