The AGM of Rapparees/Starlights GAA Club took place in the Bellefield Clubhouse on Sunday 15th January 4.30pm.

The 55 strong attendance heard Maria Nolan read the Secretarys Report in which she thanked the outgoing Chairman John Browne, all her Executive Committee colleagues and indeed all who were working in anyway for the betterment of the Club.

She outlined the many highlights over the year on the field of play in particular the Juvenile football win and the Minor hurlers bridging a 21 year gap to take the County title. She said that she had great hopes for the 2012 season and looked forward to seeing the Starlights regain their senior football status. She promised to continue working to the best of her ability for Bellefield.

Padraig Hall then presented the Accounts giving a detail analysis of all Income and Expenditure in the previous 12 months and thanking all those who work so hard week in and week out on the clubs two main fundraisers Lotto and Bingo.

The Outgoing Chairman John Browne then made his address thanking all his fellow Officers and all the Executive members, all the people helping with Lotto and Bingo, Field, Camogie, Coiste na Nog, Ladies Football, Race Night Committees, and particularly Martin Collins, Jim Nolan and Martin Kirwan for painting the hall and having it ready for AGM. He thanked all players, trainers, managers, Selectors, and indeed anyone who had anything to do with the teams in 2011. He congratulated Ger and Bridgie Collins who celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary at Bellefield the night before.

He congratulated our Jim Byrne Cup team who had beaten Craanford earlier in the day to gain their place in the semi final of the competition. He said that he had always endeavoured to improve Bellefield in any way he could both on and off the field and he said that he looked forward to Padraig Halls term of office as Chairman and would work with him and give him all the help he could. He extended sympathies to the Hall family on the death of Kay – who was a staunch and loyal member of the club and above all a lady to all she encountered.

In his address as new Chairman Padraig Hall said he looked forward to a successful year at Bellefield both on and off the field and asked all members to continue to support the club and to be active – If you are not active you are not part of it – he said. He paid tribute to John Browne for all the work he had done for the Club not just in his 3 year term of office but over the years.
