Despite the fact that there is nothing happening with games yet at Bellefield it was still a hive of activity this week with adult training in full swing - the girls being put throught their paces by the meticulous Michael Nolan and our Juveniles and Minors getting the benefit of the experience and skill of players like Adrian Fenlon, Declan Ruth and others - lovely to see so many players willing to get involved with our underage this year - it is definitely the way to go as our younsters are getting a huge kick out of being trained and coached by their heroes. Thank you to all who are training and coaching our teams this year - your efforts and time are very much appreciated.

There was a plethora of activity in the Clubhouse as well as one of our up and coming players Ciaran O`Connor celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday night and Club member Jim Byrne pledged his troth at his engagement party on Saturday night and a wonderful night of entertainment was held on Sunday night for the Haiti Disaster Fund. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported the fundraiser and say a special word of thanks to Stephen Murphy on guitar, Tom Murphy on banjo and Mick Levingstone on piano accordian who very generously gave of their talents freely for Haiti and made the night a most enjoyable and special evening. The 3 man band will most certainly be back at Bellefield for another gig in the near future by popular demand. A special guest appearance was make by Michael Sullivan who will be representing the Club in the Celebrity Wannabe in April - Michaels melodious renditions of favourites like the Mistral Boy, My Way and Grace nearly brought the house down, and might I take this opportunity to publicly thank Micheal for agreeing to represent the club in what promises to be a brilliant talent contest.

I would also like to thank Tom Morrissey of Hayes Bar who is going to host a night on Saturday night next 25th Feb in aid of our Celebrity Wannabe campaign and chawke this one down in the diary too - on Easter Sunday night a very special night of entertainment will be held in Bellefield featuring both Michael Sullivan and the Athenaeums representative Matthew Hyland along with Joe 90 and many other local singers as a fundraiser for both the Athenaeum and our Player Injury Fund. One most definitely to look out for!

I would like to express our sincere sympathies to the O`Shea family on the death of Jimmy - you are in our thoughts and in our prayers at this most difficult time.

And on a lighter note congratulations to Noel and Anita Jordan on the birth of their daughter Ava.

The draw for this years campionships will take place this Wednesday night in the Riverside Park and Leagues are due to commence in March - all details will be posted on our website as soon as they are available.
