Under 12 Hurling
County Final Wexford Park Mon 25th Oct 2004
Rapparees 1-4 St Anne's 3-2
Our lads were very unfortunate in this final to come out losers by a four point margin. We had the aid of a strongish breeze in the first period but did not capitalize on all our chances in running up a 1-3 to 0-0 half time lead.
Our points came from Jamie Fox, Richard Farrell and Graham Donohoe while Graham also pitched in with our only goal following a fine pass from David Murphy.
Even having missed so many chances however we were confident at half time because St Anne's had made no impression at all on the scoresheet. They came out of the blocks in the second half like bulls though and threw everything at us. Our defence however held firm despite a number of scares until the 10th minute when the men in blue scored a goal to bring them to within 3 points of us.
Jamie put us back 4 points ahead almost immediately but that proved to be our final score of the game.
Then came the turning point of the game as the Annes scored a fortuitous goal from a long range free to give them heart and start putting doubts in the minds of our young lads. The Annes then scored 2 points to take the lead and a final goal in added time to win by the four point margin.
It was a disappointing end for the lads but we always learn more about ourselves from defeat than victory so this should be seen as a stepping stone to greater glory in the future.
Team: Liam Ó Tiernaigh; Brian Morrissey, Wm Dunne, MJ Doyle (Capt); Lee Treacy, Richard Farrell, Christy Doyle; Jamie Fox, Jack Kelly; Brendan Kearney, Graham Donohoe, Diarmuid Cullen; Sean O'Gorman, Paudie O'Gorman, Davy Murphy; Jamie Barron, Conor Ronan, Brian Ronan, Alan Tobin, Tom Ryan, Gary Millar, Mel Doyle, Damian Kennedy.
County Semi-Final
Well done to the under 12's in qualifing for the final with a great win over St Martins in the semi-final.
The lads put up one of there best efforts of the season and came out strong winners by a scoreline of 10-04 to 2-02.
It was a great team performance with Jack Kelly, Mj Doyle, Wille Dunne and Jamie Fox playing well. Also we must mention Lee Treacy's point from the half back position as one of the scores of the game.
The lads now await the result of the game between Oulart and St. Annes to see who they will play on 23 Oct in Wexford Park. Good luck boys!

Rapps 1-8 St Martins 0-2
The under 12's bounced back from their defeat to the Shelmaliers in the county football semi-final to win comfortably against St Martins last Thursday night. They have now qualified for the county semi-finals.
12 August 2004
The Under 12 team are going well in this years championship and despite an loss in their first game to St Anne's they are unbeaten since. With wins over Oulart, Faythe Harriers and Glynn- Barntown. Tonight they travelled to play the Shels with hopes of putting the bad display in football the week before behind them. The team was a little depleted with injuries and sickness but their spirit was high. Despite a good start and taking an early lead Shels proved too strong in the first half and led by 5 points at half time.
At the start of the second half we cut their lead to two points but then they got on top again and with 8 mins to go we were down by 9 points. But then the revival started and with goals from Davy Murphy, Graham Donohoe and Brendan Kearney the lads showed great fighting spirit and won the game by 3 points.
Jack Kelly gave a classic display of hurling in the middle of the field and with some great defending by MJ Doyle and Brian Morrissey we kept the run going. Well done lads you did yourselves and your selectors proud. We have one more match against St. Martins in a fortnights time but are sure now of a place in the semi finals. 29 July 2004
Rapps V Glynn / Barntown
29 July 2004
Victory by 6-8 to 0-4 for the Rapps. Glynn were missing a few players so it ended up being very one sided. Good for the Rapps were Jack Kelly, Richard Farrell and the two O'Gormans, Seanie and Paudie who got 2 goals a piece.
Rapps V Oulart / The Ballagh
17 June 2004
In our next under 12 hurling match we had Oulart at home and the lads made up for the disappointment of the week before. Paudie O Gorman finally found his best position with a move to full forward and Paudie accounted for 4-02 of the overall score which read Rapps 6-07 Oulart 1-02. Their were also good performances from Jack Kelly, Lee Treacy, Brian Morrissey, William Dunne and Graeme Donohoe. Well done lads.

St Anne's V Rapps
We opened our campaign with a trip to the "Annes", always a hard place to get a result. The team put in a good display at times during the game but unfortunately did not come to grips with their midfield. To the lads credit they fought till the end and only went down by a score of 3-06 to 3-03. Next time we will be ready and better prepared for them.
