Under 14 Hurling 11 September 2004 Rapps V Oulart / The Ballagh The under 14 hurlers were in the county semi-final on Saturday and came out second best to a strong Oulart combination.  We had a number of fine performances but ultimately as a team we didn’t have the physique to match the country boys, especially in the very wet conditions that prevailed on the day.  This team has performed well during the year, if a little up and down in their performances: with concentration on strength, fitness and skills over the winter they should do much better next year.     Bellefield   10th August 2004 Rapparees 5-07    St Martins  1-09 This was a welcome win after disappointments at Under 12 and under 16 during the week.  It was a very close game with the Rapps only getting the upper hand with ten minutes to go.    St Martins went in leading by a point at half time and it looked to be an uphill battle for our lads but fine displays up the middle from Andrew Kelly, Joe Cullen (three goals) and James Peare saw off the Martins challenge.    Aaron Ronan was all action up front and Barry Nolan and John Ryan mopped up a lot of ball in the back line.  The game was a pleasure to watch and a credit to the under 14 panel who gave their all for the win. Referee – John O'Rourke   Bellefield 27th July 2004   Under 14 Hurling   Rapps 6-8  Naomh Eanna  0-5 I have no report for this.  Anyone interested please send one to reports@rappstars.com         Oulart      28th June 2004     7.45PM   Under 14 Hurling   Oulart 2-09   V   Rapparees  2-04 There was a delayed start to this match, the appointed referee failed to turn up and Peadar Lacey of Oulart took up the whistle.  Oulart pointed with the first ball of the game and had run up three before Aaron Ronan raised a white flag for the Rapps.  There was a good shower of rain which made the going greasy.  Goals were exchanged and at halftime Oulart led 1-06 to 1-01.  The contest was more even in the second half with some good hard hurling but shooting on both sides was not great.   John Ryan, Brendan Doyle, Barry Nolan and Thomas Collins all showed well in the back line while Joe Cullen tried but Aaron Ronan was easily our best player on the night.   Paul Byrne, Brendan Doyle, John Ryan, Evan O’Rourke, Barry Nolan, John James Dunne, Thos Collins, James Peare, Darren Buttle, Timmy Morrissey, Joe Cullen, Sam O’ Shea, Jimmy O’Leary, David Wall and Aaron Ronan.   Subs : Paudge Dwyer, Ricki O’Leary, Brendan Ellis, Graham Donohoe, Philip Sinnott, David Doyle and Andrew Kelly (injured –Playing Tennis).         Monday 14 June 2004 Under 14 Hurlers had a good win over St Annes in Bellefield on Monday Evening.   It was a Tough, hard fought encounter with neither side willing to give an inch, the difference in the end being two powerfully struck goals from Joe Cullen.   There were also good displays from Paul Byrne ( a budding Fitzhenry) in Goal, John Ryan who cleared a lot of ball and Aaron Ronan in front of posts.   John O'Rourke  was the man in the middle on an extremely hot evening.
