Unhappy news for the juvenile hurlers on Sunday afternoon when they faced the Harriers in the county final in Wexford Park. It was a very close game with both defences on top. The Harriers had gone into an early lead against the run of play, scoring a scrappy goal but just before the half hour our lads did likewise and went in at half time only 2 points in arrears.
Early in the second half, we drew level and from then on it was nip and tuck with both sides missing scoreable chances. However it was the Wexford Town men who scored the vital goal and then as we chased the game, they went on to latch on another couple of points.
This is a very good team we have at this level with the majority of the lads underage again next year. It just didnt happen for them on Sunday and every side gets days like that. We should be in a good position to challenge next year though.
