Senior Hurling v Oulart May 13th PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 May 2012 10:46

Our Senior hurlers managed to contain Oulart for the first 20 minutes of the game in Oylegate on Sunday afternoon last but after that it was no contest with Rapps having no answer to Oularts superior skill in every position on the field.

This was one that we all knew the outcome of prior to the encounter but it does hammer home the gap between us and the County Champions and it gives us some idea of what we might need to do to be in contention for this year's title.

Square Ball! PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 03 May 2012 11:15
  1.      Football Only – “Square Ball”

This has been amended to allow a player enter the small rectangle once the final deliberate play of the ball has been made, i.e as soon as the player kicks, hand-passes, fist passes or deliberately flicks the ball into the small rectangle then the attacking player may enter.

The rule is unchanged with regard to “Set Play” i.e. Free Kicks, Line Balls and 45s – in these instances players are not permitted to enter the small rectangle before the ball.

County Minor Hurlers PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 23 April 2012 08:45

Congrats to Liam Ryan, Kevin Foley, Kevin Ryan, Darragh Pepper, Seanie O`Gorman and Dale Galway who were all with the Minor hurling panel who beat Offaly in Tullamore in the first round of the Championship on Saturday at 2pm.

Well done lads – the first game is often the hardest so great to get over that first hurdle.

Thanks to Ger McVeigh and Tommy Foley who organised a supporters bus to the game – we all had a great day and the win made it – plans are being made to run another one to the next round against Dublin in Parnell Park on Saturday 5th May.

Junior Hurling v St James May 6th PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 10 May 2012 12:45

Our Junior hurlers were out on the Bank Holiday Monday against St. James in Cushinstown and after a spirited and entertaining match were unlucky to come away a point down 1.10 to 14pts.

When a game is over its over - and one tends not to complain but I would really have to point out my serious objection to a dubious decision by the Ref that resulted in a point being scored by the opposition. A foul was deemed to be committed against a player from St. James around the midfield area but following complaints from our spectators on the line the Ref moved the ball a further 10 yards towards the goal – now this is something I have never seen before and would contend that it should not have been done – I stand to be corrected if anyone knows different –but to my knowledge a ball can only be moved in 10 yards by the Ref following abuse from players not from spectators! Surely a team cannot be penalised on the field because of what spectators may or may not do or say??
